Night Africa with Alex Ikot and Nelida Karr
Alex Ikot
Born in Equatorial Guinea in an environment marked by music, in which, at an early age, he begins to develop his skills as a percussionist and drummer. His commitment and dedication has led him to collaborate with different formations in many countries in Africa, Europe, America and Asia, achieving great versatility without abandoning his roots of African rhythms, in which he manages to fit any style (jazz, flamenco, Latin rhythms , ectétera).
Nelida Karr
It is the current musical revelation of the rhythms of Equatorial Guinea. Singer, composer, pianist, guitarist and percussionist comes from a small piece of land of the Bubi ethnic group. Surrounded by a family of musicians, Nélida is the daughter of producer and singer Samuel Karr. Karr grew up with the sound of Bubi music, religious songs and Equatorial Guinean rhythms like katya, kotto and bonko that can be found in his songs. When drinking from the diverse musical sources of the only Spanish-speaking African country, it is not surprising that some sounds from Spain were a constant in their childhood. But beyond the Spanish cultural heritage, the roots of Nélida’s music are found in African Equatorial Guinea.
